The Urban Sustainability Initiative is a strong advocate to have academic units incorporate sustainability into their curriculum and makes every effort to move forward the campus discussion on this topic. The UNLV Focus 50-100 Strategic Plan (PDF) identifies a need for a broad elucidation of sustainability across the university curriculum. The specific efforts underway at this time include:

• Curriculum development in the College of Hotel Administration through an URBAN21 Seed Grant
  
  
• Development of a doctoral nursing degree with a sustainability emphasis in the School of Nursing (PDF)
  
  
• 2nd Annual Urban Sustainability Conference: Education for a Global Sustainable Future: 21st Century Challenges in Sustainability & Climate Change Education
  
  
• USI has presented information (PDF) to the Faculty Senate General Education Committee to consider as it discusses proposed changes to UNLV’s general education core.
