
At 8:30 p.m. on March 28, 2009, people around the world turned off their lights for one hour as part of Earth Hour 2009. The annual Earth Hour is a global call to action to stand up, take responsibility, and get involved in working toward a sustainable future. More than 700 cities in 78 countries participated. Las Vegas was a flagship city for 2009, and UNLV also participated.
Campus activities included
A total of 570 UNLV students, faculty, and staff took an Earth Hour pledge and were entered into a raffle to win gift cards donated by the UNLV Bookstore. Click here to see how a sampling of the pledge-takers spent the hour.
